Manga artist Ririura Yomiya has launched a manga adaptation of the Kimi to Hanabi to Yakusoku to (君と花火と約束と) light novel by Mado Kaori in Shogakukan’s Sunday Webry on March 26th, 2026.

Shogakukan published Mado’s Kimi to Hanabi to Yakusoku to light novel with illustrations by Akamoku on December 18th, 2025. The story is set in Niigata’s Nagaoka Festival Fireworks Display, one of Japan’s three major fireworks displays, which attracts hundreds of thousands of people every year. A painting depicting fireworks brings together Makoto and Akira, two high school students living in Tokyo, far from Niigata. At the mercy of the mysterious painting and fate, Makoto and Akira are forced to make a decision within a limited amount of time.

The novel is also being adapated into an anime film, which will premiere on July 17th, 2026. Suzuki Kei is directing the anime film at Synergy SP, and the film will star Satou Shouri as Makoto Natsume and Hara Nanoka as Aki Hayama.
